People from all over the country, all over the world interested in Cache Valley

Increased gasoline prices may significantly impact travel this summer according to Julie Hollist, executive director of the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau. Hollist told the Cache County Council on Tuesday that her office is adjusting its marketing strategy to emphasize local travel.Hollist says her office had an increase in requests for information last year while other counties either saw a decrease or the figures remained approximately the same.”As of March 7th for requests for information, we have already received in our office 3,233 requests for information,” Hollist told the council. “Can you imagine that many people want to come to Cache Valley on vacation? “We have received them from all 50 states and from 46 different countries. Last year, in 2010, we sent out 16,997 requests for information.”Hollist says her office was able to come up with tourism grants to help support local events such as the Beaver Mountain Hill Climb, Wellsville Stampede, Celebrate America, Cache Valley Cruise-In, Little Bloomsbury Festival and the recently-held Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous.
