Congressman Rob Bishop, R-District 1, will be the keynote speaker on Monday, March 21 for a ribboncutting event celebrating 230 mutual self help homes. The event will start at 3:30 p.m. in the Nibley City Office building, 25 West 3200 South in Nibley. Kim Datwyler, executive director of Neighborhood Nonprofit Housing Corporation, says this is an opportunity for Congressman Bishop to see and feel the support for the Mutual Self Help Housing Program which has been zeroed out in President Obama’s 2011-2012 budget. Datwyer says it is also a chance for the public to advocate for what she calls the “most effective and highest quality affordable housing program the government has ever funded.” Open house signs will identify the participating homes and people can call 753-1112 for more information.
