Despite missing vote, Draxler would have voted against repeal of HB477

State Representative Jack Draxler, R-District 3, was absent from the special session of the Utah Legislature where the Senate voted 19 to 5 to repeal the controversial bill that put new restrictions in the state’s open records law and increased the cost of obtaining information. The House vote was 60 to 3 and it would have been 60 to 4 if Draxler had been present. He was in Seattle, Washington visiting a sister who is being treated for cancer. Draxler says he would have voted not to repeal the bill just as fellow local lawmaker Curt Webb from District 5 did. Like Webb, Draxler says he supports the work group studying the bill and hopes any changes in the bill will be reasonable.
