With a $145,000 grant from the Murdock Charitable Trust of Vancouver, Washington, the Franklin County Medical Center will be able to obtain a new anesthesia machine and other equipment for half the normal price. Hospital Administrator Mike Andrus says the grant will also enable the hospital to purchase new ultrasound equipment and portable sonogram equipment and existing anesthesia and ultrasound machines will be replaced with more modern equipment. According to the Preston Citizen, Andrus says the new portable sonogram will be used to identify nerve block placement for pain management and identify locations within a joint for arthroscopic surgery.
