County Attorney urging parents to guard their children from pornography

Pornography is a serious problem, not only across the country but also here in Cache Valley. Cache County Attorney James Swink says people of all ages are addicted to pornography, including children. Those involved come from all levels of income and all walks of life.So how do parents control a child’s use of pornography? On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Thursday, Swink said parents should talk to their children on a regular basis and should also control what they see on the Internet.”There are a number of wonderful controls,” Swink said. “One, you can log and have double passwords for your children when they’re on the Internet. “Children who surf the Internet will come across pornography. So if you limit the surfing and have them on the Internet for a specific purpose that’s one thing a parent can do. They can also put programs on their computers that monitor every site that is visited on the Internet.”Swink says pornography over time changes lives and destroys relationships. Like drug or other addictions, he says most people need professional help in order to overcome the problem.
