Local historic society to discuss USU barn, Cache Valley’s ancient residents

Two speakers will address those attending Wednesday’s meeting of the Cache Valley Historical Society. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Historic Cache County Court House and the public’s invited to attend.Jon Allred, a Utah State University graduate student, will discuss the architectural, landsape and oral history of the USU Barn, also known as the horse barn or art barn. He will also discuss the rehabilitation and expansion of the barn to house an expanded Museum of Anthropology and a welcome center.Another graduate student, Benjamin Fowler, will discuss what the archeological record reveals about the Native Americans who occupied Cache Valley and the surrounding areas in Souhern Idaho and Northern Utah between 11,000 and 7,000 years years ago.
