Cache Valley residents encouraged to lend a hand during Volunteer Week

This is Volunteer Week and Cache Valley residents are invited to take advantage of the opportunity to volunteer by pledging their time to local non-profits. Volunteer Week activities are sponsored by the Cache Valley Volunteer Center and the Center for the School of the Future.Blaire Nelson, an Americorps volunteer with the Center for the School of the Future, says the time people pledge during the drive would be served during the remainder of this year. The goal is to reach 5,000 total pledged hours to help local agencies and Nelson says more than half of that goal has been reached. To make a pledge or get more information, go to the website myservicepledge.blogspot.com. In addition to the pledge drive, local non-profit agencies have nominated exceptional volunteers for the “People In Action” awards. They will be presented Friday at 6 p.m. at the Historic Cache County Court House. The public is invited to attend.
