While emergency crews worked most feverishly along the Blacksmith Fork River Monday to stem swift flood waters, crews in Smithfield were also busy preventing a minor flood of their own.Runoff coming out of Smithfield’s Dry Canyon came across the road at 1000 East 300 South and threatened several homes. Crews and volunteers were able to place sand bags along the road and divert the water into a canal, sending it through a farmers field. The intersection is closed to motorists until runoff subsides.
