Brown’s family excited to have her home

If all goes well, 53 year-old Debra Brown of Logan will be released Monday, May 9 from the Utah State prison where she has been for the last 17 years after her conviction on first degree murder charges.Brown’s conviction on charges that she murdered 75 year-old friend and employer Lael Brown, no relation, has been overturned under a 2008 state law that allows criminals to challenge the facts of their case when new evidence is presented.Brown’s daughter, Alana Williams, says she and her two brothers were teenagers when their mother went to prison and now they are all married. Williams says Brown has six grandchildren to enjoy.Williams says her mother has endured breast cancer and ovarian cancer while she was in prison. Fortunately, she says, her health is good now and she is in full remission.
