Rain, melting snow swelling northern Utah rivers

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Overnight rains and melting snow swelled rivers in northern Utah, where minor flooding has been reported in the Logan area, but no serious damage or injuries.The Blacksmith Fork River near Logan reached flood stage in some areas, a recreational vehicle park was threatened and some rural roads in Cache County are closedNational Weather Service hydrologist Brian McInerney tells the Deseret News that flooding so far has been minor, with rivers expected to crest Monday.Officials closed two roads off U.S. Highway 89/91 in Logan on Sunday, but forecasters say cooler temperatures could limit snowmelt and reduce the threat of flooding.Officials are also watching Little Bear River in Cache County, Emigration Canyon in Salt Lake County, Chalk Creek in Summit County and the Weber River below Echo Reservoir.
