5-year-old in serious condition after being locked in trunk

A five-year-old boy is in serious but stable condition after he was found locked in a trunk Sunday. North Park Police responded to a home in North Logan where the boy had been located in the trunk of a vehicle and was not able to get out. When family got to the boy, he was not breathing. According to the North Park Police department, by the time officers and medical personnel arrived the boy was unconscious but breathing on his own. He was taken to Cache Valley Specialty Hospital via ambulance and later flown by helicopter to Primary Children’s Medical Center. Officers determined that the boy went unnoticed for approximately 30 minutes before he was located, unconscious, in the trunk of the vehicle by family members. An investigation into the boy’s disappearance determined that the boy was able to gain access to a set of keys, unlocked the trunk lid and crawled inside the trunk. When the lid was closed and locked, the five-year-old was unable to free himself.
