Two of the top 10 schools in the state of Utah are in the Cache County School District. The Summit Elementary School in Smithfield was named the top-scoring school immediately followed by Mountainside Elementary School in Mendon. The Deseret News says it took the average percentage of students in each public school in Utah who scored above proficient on language arts and math and ranked them accordingly. A total of 617 schools were analyzed. Jack Robinson is principal of the Summit Elementary School where 596 students are enrolled and 229 of those students, or 38.4 percent, are on free and reduced lunch. There are 543 students at Mountainside Elementary where Gregory Larsen is the principal. Thirty-two-point-six percent of students, or 177, are on free or reduced lunch there.
