Logan City proposing pay increases for Mayor, Council

Logan City’s mayor and members of the municipal council are in need of pay hikes according to the city’s human resources director, Greg Cox. At Tuesday night’s municipal council meeting, Cox asked the council to raise the salaries of the mayor and the council by 7.4 percent. The increase would bring Mayor Randy Watts’ salary up to $92,412. Cox said when he came to Logan six years ago there was a fulltime administrative assistant, but that job was dissolved and Watts took over the responsibilities.”And then also looking ahead at when we have people apply for the mayor in two years and want to run,” Cox continued, “I feel like to get the proper people and get the people that we really think can run the city, it’s a big job, we need to adjust those wages.”Cox also proposed that the salary of the five council members be raised to $15,359. He says that would put them more in line with comparable cities throughout the state.
