July 1 marks the beginning of the filing period for the Logan City Municipal Council elections and on the opening day three people have filed: Tom Jensen, Meri Fisher, and incumbent Herm Olsen. Jensen works for a local architectural firm, Fischer is employed at a hotel, and Olsen is an attorney and current councilman up for reelection. Three seats on the council currently occupied by Dean Quayle, Lorraine Swenson, and Olsen are up for grabs.According to Logan City Recorder Teresa Harris, if more than six individuals file a primary will ensue. She believes this is likely. “We usually have a good crowd to file but not a lot of people come out and vote because it’s not a mayor election,” Harris says. “It’s the voters we need to get out.” The filing period for all municipal council seats ends Friday, July 15th.
