It took Nick and Trevor Larson less than a minute to claim their prize. The two brothers and long-time car enthusiasts were the lucky winners of a restored 1936 Chevrolet gray and white coupe, this year’s giveaway car at the Cache Valley Cruise-In. More than 700 people lined the rodeo arena at the Cache County Fairgrounds to see if their raffle number would be drawn, but it was the Larson’s, who only bought four tickets, that drove away with the car.”I’m just exhilarated. It’s overwhelming,” Trevor Larson said. The car giveaway and Main Street parade wrapped up the 2011 Cruise-In, the most successful in recent years. The Beach Boys concert saw 4,300 people, $1,500 was raised for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life ($1,200 for the Beach Boys Boogie Board and $300 in additional donations), and car lovers brought their vehicles from all corners of the United States and Canada.Because it is the Cache Valley Cruise-In’s 30th anniversary next year, the 2012 giveaway car, revealed at the award’s ceremony Saturday night, is a 1929 Ford Roadster. Randy Wall, Cache Valley Cruise-In President, said the group was unable to find a car manufactured in the 1930’s so instead settled for the ’29 Ford. The car will be completely redone before the Cruise-In of 2012.
