Now that the risk of flooding has subsided in Northern Utah, Logan City has organized a way to clean up the hundreds of sandbags that were placed throughout the city along the Logan River. Disposal bins will be placed in the most affected neighborhoods throughout the city beginning Friday, July 22. Residents are asked to take their unwanted sandbags there and Logan City will properly dispose of them at the landfill. Residents can also elect to use the bags for their own purposes, whether to use the sand in their own yards or to keep the sandbags for future use. Residents can choose to dispose of the bags on their own, as long as they properly discard the bags or take them to the landfill themselves. Sandbags are not to be disposed of in the river. If residents decide to use the sandbags to create a berm for future flooding they must first follow certain guidelines and get approval from Logan City Engineer Bill Young at 716-9160. For further questions, contact Logan City Public Works Department at 716-9152 or Logan City Street and Storm Water Division at 716-9620.
