Simmonds: neighborhood planning important for Logan City’s future

There are 13 people running for three seats on Logan’s municipal council and Jeannie Simmonds is the only candidate who lives in the city’s historic downtown neighborhood. Simmonds is also a current member of the Logan Planning Commission. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Tuesday, Simmonds said it is important for people to have a say in what is happening in their neighborhood. She says a recent good example of this was an Adams neighborhood meeting where some people expressed concern about safety on 200 East.”People don’t pay attention to crosswalks in Logan and we can’t have someone enforcing them, we don’t have the resources to enforce all of that all the time,” Simmonds said. “So we have to create places for people to cross that street where it is extremely visible.” Simmonds said that people need to be extremely aware of where the crosswalks are. “I think it’s for the safety of the community.”Simmonds says her election would bring additional balance to the council and she would like to help the city further plan for its future.
