UDOT Region One Road Construction Report for August 5-11, 2011

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists of the following road construction and maintenance activities that may cause traffic impacts in the state’s Northern Region: Davis County Centerville Aug 5-11: Work continues on the construction of an auxiliary lane on north-bound I-15, between the 500 West on-ramp in Bountiful, and Parrish Lane, work each evening beginning at 10 p.m. until 10 a.m. the next day. Most of the time all lanes will be open, but occasionally the far right lane may be closed to facilitate construction work. Due to additional projects being completed by Davis County, Pages Lane will be closed or restricted where it passes under I-15 in the coming month. Motorists on Pages Lane should use alternate routes, and I-15 motorists should pay attention to advance warning signs and move to the left when directed by them to do so. For more information about this project, contact the project team at 801-448-2930, e-mail I-15parrishlane@vox-creative.com, or visit the project website at http://udot.utah.gov/main/f?p=100:pg:0:::1:T,V:3424. Weber County Ogden Aug 5-11: On segment 1 (Washington Blvd. to Monroe Blvd.), of the 12th Street (SR-39) repaving project, centerline paving is complete between Liberty Avenue and Washington Blvd. The center section remains closed for curing, and traffic is moving on the outside lanes. A dedicated U-turn for both east bound and west bound motorists is located at Liberty Avenue. On segment 2 (Monroe Blvd. to Harrison Blvd (SR-203)), paving is underway, with one lane of traffic open in each direction and a center turn lane available during non-peak hours. Crews are working from 7 p.m. through 8 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 p.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, except when paving is in progress. For project information call 800-676-12TH (800-676-1284) or email info@frontlinepi.com Box Elder County Sardine Canyon Route Aug 8: The Region One Painting Crew will be painting highway stripping on US-39, between Brigham City and Logan on Monday, August 8. Crews will work between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Motorists should stay behind vehicles trailing behind the paint truck with flashing lights, to avoid getting wet paint on their vehicles, or to track paint from lane to lane. This work is highly dependent on weather conditions and other factors. Brigham City Aug 5-11: I-15 is reduced to one lane in each direction in areas where reinforcing bars are being installed or roadway grinding is occurring, between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m., between US-91 (Exit 360) and the South Willard Interchange (Exit 351). Trucks and vehicles hauling trailers or boats are especially advised to reduce speeds and use caution in the area. Additionally, the northbound I-15/750 North off-ramp (Exit 357) will be closed for approximately two days at the beginning August 8, while crews pour new concrete. After the closure of the northbound off-ramp, the northbound on-ramp will be closed for the same work to take place for several more days. North bound US-89 to SR-315 West is recommended as an alternate route to destinations near 750 North during these closures. Schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Motorists with time-sensitive travel should consider using US-89 as an alternate route. Motorists are advised to slow down and be alert to workers and machinery adjacent to the open lane of travel. For more information, call 801-990-5555 email boxelderhighways@utah.gov. Honeyville Aug 5-11: Cable median barrier is being installed on I-15 between Calls Fort (milepost 365) and the Honeyville Interchange (Exit 372 to SR-240) in Honeyville. Lanes should rarely be restricted or closed, but motorists should be wary of vehicles suddenly pulling off or on to the roadway, and of workers and machinery working adjacent to open lanes of travel. Riverside Aug 5-11: Concrete rehabilitation work on I-15 continues between 10th North in Tremonton and SR-30 in Riverside. Traffic is restricted to one lane both north and southbound between 10th North in Tremonton and SR-30 in Riverside for concrete rehabilitation work. Additionally, the southbound on- and off-ramps at the Riverside/SR-30 interchange (Exit 385) are closed until Monday, August 8, to accommodate cattle guard and concrete rehabilitation work. South-bound motorists on I-15 who use SR-30 to travel to Logan or other destinations should use Exit 392 in Plymouth (20800 North) to SB SR-13 to SR-30, or 10th North (Exit 381) to NB SR-13 to SR-30 as alternates. Once the southbound SR-30/Riverside ramps are open, the southbound off-ramp at 10th North in Tremonton will be closed for seven days for concrete rehabilitation and cattle guard work. Crews are working between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Call 801-990-5555, or e-mail: boxelderhighways@utah.gov for more information. Cache County Logan Canyon Aug 5-11: Workers will begin preparing to place a chip seal on US-89 in Logan Canyon, from Twin Creek Road to Beaver Creek. As this work moves forward, lanes will be restricted or closed, with traffic directed by flaggers, possibly with the assist of pilot cars. Motorists should proceed only as directed to by flaggers. This work will take several weeks to complete. Travelers with time-sensitive travel should plan ahead and consider alternate routes to and from the Cache Valley to the Bear Lake area, such as US-91 north to Idaho 36 at Riverdale, then east to Ovid, Idaho to regain US-89; or I-84 via Ogden and Evanston to SR-16. Logan Aug 5-11: On Main Street (US-89 and 91) crews will begin adding a “micro seal” this week to protect it from weather and extend the life of the road, beginning the evening of Monday, August 8. In addition, work will continue on new pedestrian access ramps at selected intersections. Construction will involve both day and nighttime work, and the work will be completed in segments to minimize impacts to traffic. Nighttime work will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction while crews work in that section. Right-turn movements and cross-street access will also be restricted in these areas between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. No parking will be allowed on Main Street in the areas where crews are working, so plan ahead.
