Support Center hosting golf tournament to help prevent child abuse

Saturday’s first annual Drive to Prevent Child Abuse is hosted by the Child and Family Support Center. The center’s development coordinator, Leigh Dean, says besides being fun the golf tournament is a fundraiser because funding has decreased and there is a critical need for money to keep the important programs going. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Thursday, Dean had the details. “It’s being held at the beautiful Birch Creek Golf Course in Smithfield,” Dean said. “We have an 8 a.m. shotgun start. We would love to have some more teams participate in our tournament. Teams can register by calling our center by calling 752-8880 and we have some great prizes.” She expressed appreciation for all the businesses sponsoring the golf tournament. Dean says without immediate financial assistance the Child and Family Support Center will not be able to meet the client demand for all the services it provides, including the crisis nursery.
