USU professor joins national food policy initiative

A national initiative charged with transforming food and agricultural policy has named a Utah State University professor of sociology as one of nine members of a research committee.Douglas Jackson-Smith joins a committee responsible to help commission studies and to facilitate dialogue about methods for improving the country’s food and agricultural systems.One of professor Jackson-Smith’s specialties is the dynamics of change in American agriculture. He will focus on research that investigates the impacts of food and agricultural policies on rural communities.Jackson-Smith says this country’s farm policy has been relatively unchanged since the 1930s.
