Evanston man drowns in Bear Lake

RANDOLPH, Utah (AP) — A 36-year-old man from Evanston, Wyo., has died after he tried to retrieve an untethered boat during an outing at Bear Lake.Authorities say Todd Smith was camping in the Rainbow Cove area south of the Utah-Idaho border when he went into the water Saturday night to catch a boat that was drifting away.Rich County sheriff’s deputies say they got a 911 call around 10:45 p.m., about 20 minutes after the man went into the water.The man’s body was spotted around 8 a.m. Sunday. A dive team recovered it.
