Political activist surveys candidates, backs Ron Paul

Two years ago Michelle King led the so-called Independence Caucus which endorsed three candidates for Logan Municipal Council. She stepped down from that position and is now the creator of the website www.youralabastercity.com. The website has come out with a 2011 Logan Municipal Candidate Survey which contains suggested qualifications and principles and discusses specific issues including Logan City’s General Plan.King is not endorsing city council candidates but she has endorsed Republican Ron Paul or president. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Wednesday, King said a survey at the Cache County fair showed Mitt Romney coming in first followed by Jon Huntsman, Jr. and then Ron Paul. She said the reasons given for supporting Mitt Romney were, “he looks presidential” and “he saved the Utah Olympics.””You know the best response you get for Mitt Romney is that he helped to save the Olympics,” King continued. “But people don’t realize he did that by obtaining federal funding. If he goes to save the federal government, well there is nobody else to obtain funding from.”So I’m not sure he’s the right one to solve those problems. But if you look at Ron Paul, he’s got real solutions. They’re hard ones. They’re ones that will make us have to face hard things now so our children won’t have to later.”King says so far she feels U.S. Senator Mike Lee, R-UT, is doing a good job. She’s not sure if she will support the re-election of U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch, R-UT, but King says she hopes that at least Hatch will have a challenger.
