Primary Elections today to narrow the field

It is Primary election day in four area communities: Logan, North Logan, Nibley and Brigham City. Residents of those cities are encouraged to go to the polls and cast their ballots for members of the city councils. In Logan, 13 candidates are competing for three open seats and they are incumbent Herm Olsen, Doug Thompson, Nick Ball, Ken Cox, Jeff Ewing, Meri Fisher, Angela Fonneseck, Robert Horning, Tom Jensen, Ben Nilson, Jeannie Simmonds, Steven Stokes and Karl Ward.Nine candidates are running for three seats on the North Logan City Council but that number will be reduced to six candidates today. The candidates are Kristen Godfrey Anderson, Roger T. Anderson, Aaron S. Bennett, Daniel J. Brownell, Damon Cann, L. Alan Collins, Brad Crookston, Russell L. Goodwin, Chris Nelson.In Nibley eight candidates are running for three open seats on the city council. Two of the candidates will be eliminated in the Primary while the names of the other six will be on the November ballot. Those running are Incumbent Larry Jacobsen, Kathn A. Beus, Carrie Cook, Joshua Frazier, Mark Lawyer, Shawn Platt, Paul L. Rew and Michael W. Smith.Ten candidates are vying for three open seats in Brigham City. The top six vote-getters will advance to the general election on November 8. The candidates are incumbent Robert J. Marabell, incumbent Ruth V. Jensen, Douglas Beazer, Daniel Butler Eyre, Wilbur Fowler, Bonnie S. Germer, Wayne R. Johnson, Jr., Brett R. Reeder, Brian X. Rex and Mark Arnold Thompson.Polls will be open until 8 p.m. in all cities conducting primary elections.
