Three questioned in armed robbery and burglary cases

A group of men was taken into custody at a Logan restaurant just after midnight Saturday, and questioned in two separate overnight crimes. Assistant Police Chief Jeff Curtis says at 11:39 p.m. Friday night, a man was approached by three individuals while walking on the footpath between the Boulevard and Canyon Road, at approximately 200 North 500 East in Logan. The man reported that one of the perpetrators displayed a firearm and took his wallet. The alleged victim ran to his apartment and he and his roommate reported the crime to a police officer patrolling the area. Curtis says shortly thereafter another crime was reported, this time with details of three people who had broken into a truck and taken items before jumping into a waiting vehicle. The citizen who made the call gave emergency dispatch the license plate number, make, model and color of the car. Curtis says officers began searching for the suspects with the knowledge that they could be armed and dangerous. Within an hour Curtis says officers spotted the vehicle in the parking lot of Rancherito’s restaurant at 1147 North Main. Officers entered the restaurant and took the three individuals into custody. Curtis says at the time of contact a firearm and wallet were not located, but during an interview, information about recent burglaries was gathered. Curtis says the investigation is in the early stages and further details will be released at a later time.
