Local Humane Society asking you to get out and Sweat for a Pet

You and your dog are invited to participate in the third annual “Sweat for a Pet” run and walk coming up on Saturday, October 8 as a fundraiser for the Cache Humane Society. People can actually walk their dog for one mile at a cost of $7 and for $15 they can both sign up for the 5K run and walk. Cache Humane Society executive director Michael Bishop says this is really a spectacular event. “It’s one of our most enjoyable events of the year,” Bishop explains. “It’s actually a run or a walk where you can bring your dog. It’s an amazing thing to see hundreds of dogs start walking when you start the event. “Everyone, amazingly, gets along. We’ve never had any altercations. Knock on wood that we don’t this year. It’s just a great time.” On KVNU’s For the People program Wednesday, Bishop said the event starts at 9 a.m. and it begins and ends at the Cache County Fairgrounds. The Cache Humane Society is a non-profit organization and Bishop says that means it is always out to raise money. He encouraged people to eat at Chile’s on Monday October 3 because the restaurant will be donating 15 percent of its profits to the Humane Society.
