Bike ride helps raise funds to end abuse

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and CAPSA is hosting “Cruising to Stop Abusing” Saturday, October 8. It’s a bicycle ride to raise money that can help victims of domestic violence. CAPSA caseworker Jolie Rasmussen says everyone is invited to participate. “That’s going to start at the Lewiston City fairgrounds at 9 a.m.,” Rasmussen explains, “and it’s a bike ride to stop abuse. It’s $25 an individual, $50 per family. “A person can register for the event at

. Just go to the site and all the information will be available.” Rasmussen says CAPSA has completed the building of three of nine homes to be used by domestic violence victims when they first leave the abuser and make a new start on their own. She says if enough funds can be raised all nine homes in “Independence Place” will be done by the fall of 2012.
