The Cache County Council holds its regular meeting Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the council chambers of the Historic Cache County Court House. Prior to that, at 4 p.m. there will be a workshop on air quality.Cache County Executive Lynn Lemon says he has invited some state officials to come in and discuss various control strategies. He says emission testing will probably be the major strategy up for discussion because if that were to happen it would be up to the county to implement it.”My understanding is that generally something around five or six percent of the automobiles that are tested fail,” Lemon said. “So I’m hopeful that we can come up with some technology (and I think this has been tested in other areas, but we’ll work with the health department to determine that), I’m hopeful that we can come up with some technology that rather than us having to test every automobile, that we test so we can select just the ones that are failing.”On KVNU’s Crosstalk show last week, Lemon said the meeting on air quality is not a public hearing. However, he says the public is invited to attend and hear the discussion on the various control strategies.
