Logan Municipal Council Chairman Herm Olsen, who is running for re-election, says he is very concerned about the fact that Logan City was left with a $60,000 deficit from the Freedom Fire Independence Day program in Utah State University’s Romney Stadium.Olsen says it was a spectacular program and he was transported by the fireworks and the talent along with the beauty of the evening. But he says the city can’t afford to lose taxpayer money.”Nobody ever thought it was going to be a money-making project but we can’t afford to lose that much money,” Olsen says. “So I’m hopeful that the parks administrator will come in with a lower budget, more reasonable expectations about revenue projections so we can at least anticipate the continuation of really a wonderful show.”But he says it has got to be a price tag the city can afford.
