The Bear River Bears played the Tooele Buffalos on senior night in Tooele hoping to get a big win to finish off the last game of the regular season. Bear River got the ball to begin the game and on the first opening drive the Bears’ Jeremy Selmen got a 67 yard touchdown making the score 7-0 Bears. During the rest of the first quarter the ball went back and forth between the two teams and at the end of the first quarter it was Bear River 7 Tooele 0.In the second quarter with 11:50 left the Bears faked a field goal and Kyle Zundel ran for an 18 yard touchdown making the score 14-0 Bears. During the rest of the second quarter the Bears played great defense and offense until with 19.6 seconds remaining the Buffalos scored a touchdown when the halfback threw a pass to Tooele’s quarterback Alvaro Fernandez making the score at halftime 14-7.In the third quarter Wes Fukui ran for a 25 yard touchdown. The Bears extended their lead to 21-7. The Bears scored one more time in the third quarter with Taylor Day intercepting the ball and running it back for a 50 yard touchdown making the score 28-7 Bears. The Tooele Buffalos scored once as well with a four yard touchdown run by Damon Thomas, making the score 28-13 pending the extra point which went wide left and the score stood 28-13 at the end of the third quarter.In the fourth it was all Bears running away with the game, scoring two more times. Wes Fukui ran for another touchdown making the score 35-13 Bears. Towards the end of the game with about 5:00 minutes left Clark Jeppsen went 35 yards for a touchdown making the score 41-13 pending the extra point which was good. The score was now 42-13 Bears.For the rest of the game with 4:00 minutes remaining the Bears stood their ground and won their last regular season game 42-13 over the Tooele Buffalos. The Bear River Bears finished their 2011 season 3-7 overall and 2-4 in region play.
