College basketball teams begin annual scrimmages

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — College basketball teams across the state will give fans a sneak peak during annual preseason scrimmages. BYU begins life after Jimmer Fredette with the annual Cougar Tipoff at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Marriott Center in Provo. The Cougars will play their first exhibition game Saturday against Midwestern State. Utah State’s annual Blue-White scrimmage is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan. The Aggies play their first exhibition game Friday night against San Diego. Weber State has its annual Purple and White scrimmages for the men’s and women’s teams set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Dee Events Center in Ogden. The men are the Big Sky’s preseason favorites for the fourth straight season, while new women’s coach Bethann Ord makes her debut.
