The 5th annual “Night of Giving” is scheduled for Saturday, November 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sky View High School and it is hosted by the Greater Smithfield Chamber of Commerce.Chamber President Bart Caley says everyone is invited to come out for great food, great entertainment and a Christmas tree and gift package auction. Caley says people have been extremely supportive and last year the proceeds went to help 30 to 35 families in need.”I can think of a family last year that I was able to shop for with my family,” Caley said on KVNU’s Crosstalk show Monday. “It was jackets for the whole family because they were wearing tattered jackets. They needed new shoes and jeans, things of that nature. “It was really good for my kids as well, or other families who are shopping for these families, to let our kids see that these toys, or these jackets, are not for you they are for a family in need. Then they can see the true meaning of Christmas.”Caley says dinner starts at 6 p.m. and the auction at 7:45. He says the Business of the Year award will be presented and the new Chamber President will be introduced. For more information and tickets call 994-1200 or 563-4104.
