Non-profit group is formed to preserve Hillcrest neighborhood

Hillcrest area residents are fully organized and determined to preserve their neighborhood. Tuesday night Benjamin George, president of the Hillcrest Improvement Committee, told the Logan Municipal Committee his group has become an official non-profit organization.”Physically we think our neighborhood is a specifically-valuable neighborhood to the city,” George told the council. “We have Hillcrest Elementary School, which is an excellent, excellent elementary school. It also borders the city cemetery. We are next to the Logan Country Club.”And he says the Hillcrest neighborhood is next to Utah State University and a gateway to the city to and from Logan Canyon. George told the council there are some challenges and one is the growing number of student rentals, many of them not being taken care of and some out of compliance for the number of occupants. George asked for help from the city departments and was assured the city also wants the neighborhood preserved.
