Thanksgiving weekend kicks off Nutcracker

If it is the night after Thanksgiving it’s the time for the opening of the Nutcracker Ballet performed by the Cache Valley Civic Ballet. Founder and artistic director Sandy Emile says Nutcracker will perform Friday, November 25, Saturday, November 26 and then Monday, November 28 in the Ellen Eccles Theatre. There is also a matinee Saturday at 1:30 p.m.On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Thursday, Emile said once again the Sugar Plum Tea Party will be held and that starts Saturday at 11 a.m.”You can bring your children in, have photos taken with the different characters of the Nutcracker,” Emile said. “They can see the Sugar Plumb Fairy, touch her tutus, see her point shoes, have cookies and punch, and literally it’s a little party with the leading characters from the Nutcracker.”She says Hannah Corcoran, a junior at Sky View High School, will be dancing the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy and nine-year old Jade Wimmer, a 4th grader at Providence Elementary School, is Clara.
