UDOT road construction update

Ogden– The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists of the following road construction and maintenance activities that may cause traffic impacts in the state’s Northern Region: Weber County Ogden CanyonDec 6: SR-39 in Ogden Canyon will be closed to all through traffic on Tuesday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to noon. The closure will be put in place from the mouth of the canyon (milepost 9) to Pine View Dam (milepost 14), to facilitate the removal of safety barriers that were knocked into the Ogden River several weeks ago from the river channel. This work must be completed before winter weather sets in. Residents of Ogden Canyon will be able to access their private property via Huntsville, and the Ogden area via SR-167 and I-84, or the North Ogden Divide during this closure period. Absolutely no traffic will be allowed eastbound on SR-39 at the so-called “waterfall” area during this closure period. Box Elder County Brigham City/WillardDec 2-8: Temporary lane striping on I-15 is expected to be completed this week within project limits. This work will take place within the regularly scheduled nightly single-lane restriction. Permanent striping will be completed next spring. Restrictions are effective nightly from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Motorists with time-sensitive travel should use US-89 as an alternate route. Cache County LoganDec 3-4: 1000 West will be closed, from 1000 South to 1600 South, beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, until 7 p.m. on Sunday December 4. This closure will facilitate temporary paving on the Logan River Bridge. Motorists will use 600 West as a detour between 1000 South and 1600 South. Residents south of 1000 South will be granted access as needed. This closure is expected to last until crews complete paving on the east side of 1000 West. Dec 2-8: Curb and gutter installation between 1000 South is now underway. Crews are continuing install curb and gutter between 200 North and 600 South, with work will continuing as weather permits. Landscaping working is also on going in the area between 600 South and 200 South. While this work takes place at the edge of pavement, flaggers will be present to control traffic movements and motorists should be prepared to stop at any time as directed. Dec 2-8: The hand pouring of neighborhood accesses at 330 and 370 South is now underway, with all the traffic shifted to the south side of these streets while crews finish pouring the concrete tie-ins to 1000 West. The one-way traffic pattern in these intersections remains in effect as marked. Motorists are asked to avoid driving on the north side of these neighborhood entrances until the concrete has completely cured and all traffic management devices are removed. Morgan County MorganDec 2-8: Paving work is complete on the first phase of a project to re-pave and restore I-84, between Morgan (SR-66) and Mountain Green (SR-167), with work being conducted between Morgan and Peterson, has been completed. The Peterson interchange is completely open. Over the next week, crews will be conducting “punch list” work on this section in anticipation of tying up the project for the winter. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and leaving the interstate shoulders, or barrels placed to protect workers.
