UDOT Region One Road Construction Report for December 9-15, 2011

Ogden– The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists of the following road construction and maintenance activities that may cause traffic impacts in the state’s Northern Region: Weber County Plain City Dec 9-15: As part of the Warren Canal Bridge Safety Improvement Project on SR-134, near milepost 6, Crews are removing and replacing existing bridge parapets, and installing new guardrail leading in and out of the bridge. Traffic is limited to one-way traffic with a mobile traffic signal set up to direct the vehicles. This project, which is located near Fremont High School, will last about 21 days. Motorists should be prepared to stop at the traffic signal and wait to cross until the green light shows in their direction. Those motorists with time sensitive travel might consider using alternate routes. Cache County Logan Dec 9-15: Rainbow Drive remains closed at 1000 West. This closure is expected to last until crews complete paving on the east side of 1000 West. Please access this road from Majestic Dr. For more information, call toll-free 888-427-8585, e-mail tenthwest@utah.gov, or visit http://www.udot.utah.gov/tenthwest. Dec 9-15: Curb and gutter installation between 1000 South and 200 North is now underway but will soon be suspended for the winter. Landscaping work is also on going in the area between 600 South and 200 South. While this work takes place at the edge of pavement, flaggers will be present to control traffic movements and motorists should be prepared to stop at any time as directed. For more information, call toll-free 888-427-8585, e-mail tenthwest@utah.gov, or visit http://www.udot.utah.gov/tenthwest. Dec 9-15: Temporary striping of the 1000 West corridor will begin this week, as temperatures permit. Motorists should be aware of painting vehicles moving slowly along the 1000 West corridor. To keep paint from being sprayed on your vehicle, either stay within the traffic control devices laid out along the corridor, or follow the painting vehicles at a safe distance. The paint is temporary paint, and if it gets on your vehicle it is easily removed with paint, tar and bug removal products available from auto parts outlets, formulated specifically for this purpose. For more information, call toll-free 888-427-8585, e-mail tenthwest@utah.gov, or visit http://www.udot.utah.gov/tenthwest. Morgan County Morgan Dec 9-15: Paving work is complete on the first phase of a project to re-pave and restore I-84, between Morgan (SR-66) and Mountain Green (SR-167), with work being conducted between Morgan and Peterson, has been completed. The Peterson interchange is completely open. Over the next week, crews will be conducting “punch list” work on this section in anticipation of tying up the project for the winter. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and leaving the interstate shoulders, or barrels placed to protect workers.
