Some improvements are on the way at Hyrum State Park according to new Park Manager Chris Haramoto. Tuesday night he told the Cache County Council that he is excited about his job and excited about the fact that the park will soon have concessions along with a new dump station and re-paving of the parking lot.Haramoto says there is much more activity in the summer but he wants more people to come this winter to stay in the nice heated and air conditioned cabins.”We’re doing a pretty good campaign to get those advertised. We’re really trying to get people to come up and maybe do a little ice fishing in the winter, maybe stay in the cabins over night,” Haramoto told the council. “I think it would be a pretty cool opportunity for people to take advantage of.” Haramoto went further to say that events are being planned to draw people to the park during the winter months.”We are working on a winter festival at the park as well. We’re going to provide ice skating, some concessions, live music, some ice sculptures, some cool fun winter things and that will be going on at the end of January.”Haramoto has been with the state’s park service for the last eight years and most recently he worked at Antelope Island.
