SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say they made 72 drunken driving arrests statewide during a New Year’s Eve enforcement blitz.The Utah Highway Patrol says 37 people were arrested in Salt Lake County alone Saturday night for driving while under the influence. Statistics for the entire weekend will be released Tuesday.Weber County had seven arrests, while none were reported in Davis County.Troopers say the arrests were made without incident, although one driver pulled over in Cache County reportedly backed his car into the trooper’s vehicle. Damage was minor and the driver was taken into custody.The stepped-up efforts included 50 troopers in the Salt Lake City area.The New Car Dealers of Utah donated $5,000 to fund 20 additional DUI enforcement shifts over the weekend as part of its “Good Wheels Program.”
