The Bear River Health Department is allowing people to get their records from anywhere now with ease. Now people can get birth or death certificates online as long as they go through Bear River Health Department’s website,

. They must also go through an online security check which will ensure or protect people from identity theft. This has been possible in other parts of the state but just became available locally. Jill Parker, the agency’s spokeswoman, says that in less than a month the Health Department has filled eight requests online. It’s a positive number considering they didn’t fill any requests at all in the first week. They plan on filling more requests online as people hear more about it.”For those living in the community it’s just another way to receive a birth or death certificate,” says Parker. “You’re always welcome to come into the Health Department during our regular business hours and receive a birth certificate that way or download an application and send it in through the mail.” If a person does order online it does cost more. If somebody purchases a birth certificate in person it cost $18. A death certificate cost $16. However, if a person purchases a birth certificate over the Internet they are looking at about $40. Part of this fee goes to help pay for VitalChek, a third party provider that checks and protects identity.Parker says that although it costs more, it is much more convenient for many people. If a person is living out of state and they want to order a birth certificate they don’t have to wait a couple of weeks for the process to go through. Parker said if they put the order through on the Internet before 3 p.m., that request can be put in the mail to them that very same day.
