Pregnancy center provides help, options for women

This week marks the 39th anniversary of Roe vs Wade, the hallmark U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. The director of Logan’s Center for Pregnancy Choices says since 2009 the center has assisted almost 400 women in finding alternatives to abortion. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Tuesday, Valerie Bowles said the women who come to the center are often in a crisis situation. “We help them through those decisions,” Bowles said. “Sometimes the girls come in very abortion-minded, and of course that is their choice. “But our name is Pregnancy Choices and we can show them that if they choose to keep the baby, either choose to place the baby for adoption or keep the baby themselves, then we’re going to be there walking side by side with them.” Bowles said funding for the center comes through donations from local churches and individuals. The Center for Pregnancy Choices is located at 90 North 100 East, Suite 140. For more information, call 752-1222.
