Saturday is a big night at the Eccles Ice Arena where the Utah State University Hockey team will be out to beat Northern Arizona University. Patty Bigelow, president of the Aggie Blue Booster Cub, says it has been an incredible year for the Aggie team and a lot of fans are expected at the Eccles Ice Arena. Bigelow says something special has been added for Saturday’s game when the hockey team participates in a Teddy Bear Toss, a charity where everyone brings a teddy bear to the game. The bears will be delivered to sick children throughout Cache Valley on Valentine’s Day. Team member Bryan Gibbons says this was done at a the school he previously attended, Eureka College. “All our fans would bring a teddy bear or two to the game and after the first goal that we would score they would throw the teddy bear on the ice,” Gibbons explains. “The rink would be packed with teddy bears and all the players would collect it and give them to charity and the sick kids in the hospital. It’s definitely for a good cause and should be a fun night.” The game starts at 7 p.m. and everyone is invited to not only come watch the team but also be part of the Teddy Bear Toss.
