The Cache County Senior Citizen Center has the mission of providing daily programs, activities and meals that will help residents 60 years of age and older to live healthy, independent lives. In order to fulfill that mission the Center needs financial help.Executive Director Kristine Johnson says federal funding has been lost to the tune of $106,000 and she’s appealing to both businesses and individuals to help. She suggests sponsoring a senior for a month.”It’s around $60 (a month) because we figure about 22 days in the month, we only deliver lunches Monday through Friday,” Johnson explains. “We have congregate lunches Monday through Friday at the Senior Center from 12 to 1 o’clock. They would sponsor just one person.” Johnson says there is also a need for volunteer Meals on Wheels drivers throughout the county, especially in the Wellsville-Hyrum area.
