The Utah Senate on Monday honored two groups of local “rescuers,” one group who lifted a burning car off a man and the other group who jumped into the icy Logan River to save the lives of children.Citations were presented to 16 people who jumped into the Logan River in Logan Canon to turn over a vehicle that had slid off a curve and flipped into the river trapping three children inside.Senator Lyle Hillyard, R-Logan, says other accidents have occurred at that spot.”It’s that curve and that curve really doesn’t have an embankment to put a barrier on,” says Hillyard. “So one of the options they’re looking at is they would have to cut more into the mountain to make it a little bit wider there.”The other recognition went to eight people who helped lift a burning car off Brandon Wright, a motorcyclist who was struck by a car and trapped underneath the vehicle while his bike burst into flames.
