Orrin Hatch wants to take Utah values to US Senate finance committee

A crowd turned out Thursday to a town hall meeting hosted by U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch, who is running for re-election to a seventh six-year term. Hatch also appeared on KVNU’s “For the People” show. The Republican said he never would have run again had he not been serving as a ranking member of the Senate’s powerful finance committee. He said if Republicans win, he will be the chairman and that’s a chance to bring Utah values to the committee.”Those values are let’s get spending under control. Let’s get the federal government under control. Let’s get our health care system so it’s up and running and working better,” Hatch said. “Let’s make sure that we get this bloated tax situation down to where we flatten that tax and we make it so anybody can fill out their tax returns without spending thousands and thousands of dollars on accountants and lawyers and others.” A strong supporter of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Hatch also said he believes Romney is the only candidate who has a chance to defeat President Barack Obama in the upcoming election.
