UPDATE: Logan council approves rezone of 1200 East 1400 North

The Logan Municipal Council held a public hearing Tuesday to consider a proposed rezone of approximately 30 acres of an old gravel pit near the intersection at 1200 East and 1400 North. Members of the council made a lot of residents of the so-called “gravel pit” area happy when they voted in favor of the rezone that will change the area from Mixed Use and Mixed Residential High to Commercial and Neighborhood Residential Eastside. The rezone had been recommended by the city’s planning commission after a packed council room last month heard property owner Pat Hansen say the area was intended to be a for single family homes with a small area to be zoned Commercial and Neighborhood Residential Eastside. At another public hearing the council considered a proposed amendment to the Logan Municipal Code regarding special events, licenses, itinerant or transient merchants, mobile food vendor licenses and public dance halls and/or cabarets.
