The Bear River Land Conservancy has engaged Jim Goodwin, former Senior Program Officer for the Western Rural Development Center headquartered at Utah State University, as its Development Director.Goodwin has been well known locally as one of the founders of the Utah Bioneers Sustainability Program in Cache Valley. Dave Rayfield, chairman of the board, says the conservancy’s mission is to conserve and enhance private lands for wildlife habitat, working farms and ranches, land and trails of recreational or historical significance, watersheds and critical vistas, using conservation easements and sound management to benefit the people of Northern Utah today and in perpetuity.He says whether you are protecting land for nature or land for humans a large part of the job is addressing the needs of people and Jim Goodwin is the consummate people person.
