Trailer goes up in flames in south Logan

A 5th wheel camper trailer caught fire just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Riverside RV park, 447 West 1700 South in Logan. According to Logan City Fire Marshall Craig Humphries, “the occupant was out of the trailer and there are no injuries to report. There was a pet, however, that was not able to get out in time.” The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation and the trailer is a total loss. Units from the Logan City Fire Department responded with automatic aid from Wellsville and North Logan. Crews had to temporarily halt their attack on the blaze. Crews had placed hoses across the railroad tracks but had to move them after getting word that a train was on its way through the area. Train operators were notified and were able to stop the train about a mile away from the trailer park. Crews worked quickly to cut power to the park and shut down gas lines to the trailer. Several large propane tanks were located nearby. “They did apply some water to adjacent trailers to keep them cool,” Humphries says, “but there was no damage to adjacent trailers.” The road was also closed to traffic while crews fought the blaze. The trailer is described as a 1995 5th wheel trailer and is a total loss. This story will be updated as more details become available.
