Scouting for Food drive comes at the right time for local food pantry

The 26th Annual Scouting for Food Drive will be held Saturday, March 24 and all of the food collected in the drive will go to the Cache Community Food Pantry. Pantry Director Matt Whittaker says those willing to donate food should have their bag out Saturday morning by approximately 9 a.m. Whittaker says the Boy Scouts will gather all the food, sort it out and bring it to the pantry. Whittaker says he will be grateful for all the food that comes in. “We’ve about run out of our supply we got over the holidays,” Whittaker says, “so we’ll take anything we can get. “If you’re in a position to put a large sack of groceries out there we’d sure appreciate it, as would the families that benefit from this service.” Although the economy shows signs of improving, Whittaker says there has been very little decrease, if any, in the number of local families needing help with food.
