Dash cam video of fatal Ogden police raid released

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Newly released dashboard video captures the harrowing moments of a January drug raid that left an Ogden police officer dead. The seven videos from the Jan. 4 nighttime raid on Matthew David Stewart’s home were released to the Ogden Standard-Examiner ( http://bit.ly/HwxD2S ) this week through a state public records request. In one video, officers are seen scrambling toward patrol cars, saying they need their bulletproof vests. Another video includes an officer saying that if his comrade is shot, he’s dead. A third shows wounded Ogden officer Michael Rounkles lying in the back of a patrol car en route to the hospital. Ogden officer Jared Francom was killed in the gunfire. Five other members of the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force were injured. Stewart has been charged with capital murder. He claims self-defense. — Information from: Standard-Examiner, http://www.standard.net
