It was once a crowded field but now that Texas Rep. Ron Paul is effectively ending his campaign Mitt Romney will soon be the only Republican presidential candidate.
Local political activist Michelle King is a strong supporter of Ron Palul and she says it’s very hard for her to warm up to the idea of Mitt Romney.
“I hope that he will do what he says he will do,” King says. “And I hope what his supporters say will happen will happen. But I’m not really confident that it will.
“I don’t really see him to have the guts to really stand up against opposition to really make things different. I hope that he’ll have a positive influence on the budgeting process at the very least.”
Meanwhile, Ron Paul says he still wants to be a thorn in Romney’s side. He is urging his supporters to continue to work at the state party level to cause havoc for the presumptive Republican nominee.
King says unfortunately no matter who is in the White House the policies never change, whether it’s a Democrat or Republican.
“I think the mentality is that Romney is not different enough from people like George Bush and the past Republicans to really make any policy changes from what’s been going on anyways. So whatever has been done in an Obama administration won’t really be changed, it will continue unless you get someone who is very drastically different.”
She says unless Ron Paul is elected president we are not going to see any changes in policy.
