Some major state road projects wrapping up, local projects ramping up

There is a lot of construction going on right now all over the state for the Utah Department of Transportation. Spokesman Vic Saunders says UDOT is wrapping up the big corridor project in Utah County that has been going on for two-and-a-half years but is expected to be finished six months ahead of schedule.

“In Cache Valley, we have the big 10th West project that is ongoing,” Saunders says. “We’re now paving on 2500 North and we’re getting ready to do a portion of 2nd North and 2500 North later this fall on 10th West.”

Saunders says the weather in Cache Valley – cold weather followed by hot weather followed by cold weather – is extremely hard on roadways. He says UDOT is trying to do as many roadways as possible with concrete because it is about the same price as asphalt now that asphalt prices have gone up.  Saunders says concrete gives roadways a longer life.
